Wire hose clamps are made of heavy wire bent into a U-shape then crafted into a ring configuration with overlapping ends which are angled outwards and cut. One end has a captive screw while the other has a captive nut. The overlapped ends are pushed apart when the screw is tightened, fastening the band around the hose. Ear hose clamps feature a strip into which one or more ‘ears’ have been anchored. The clamp is mounted over the end of the hose to be attached and when each ear is shut at the base with a pincer tool, it deforms and pulls the band, causing it to tighten around the hose.
